The drawing above was done in our shop and is part of a recreated drawing done using the computer and a 3D yacht design program.  We use the program to build information for things we can not get or find in the archives of a project.  Many times there is just no information to work from, due to lost or unobtainable information.  When the occasion arises we travel to the boat and document the boat with dimensions and photograph.  We use this information to recreate a three dimensional drawing.  Once that has been completed, we then export the information to an associated CAD program and use it in many ways to produce the model we are about to create. For more information about the CAD program Multi-Surf click here.

I had the opportunity to visit the boat in San Francisco in March of 1998 while installing the Herreshoff schooner yacht model MARIETTE.  I visited the garage where the boat and Bugatti automobile counterpart were stored.  Below is a picture with the launch and the automobile in the foreground.  A good friend of mine here in Camden is very involved with classic automobiles and in particular, the Bugatti automobiles.  He let me borrow a brochure which profiled and was used for marketing the line of boats.  This boat was designed in 1946 and built approximately the following year. The next page shows some scans from an original brochure you will fin interesting and appearing so classic for the times.
