William
Evans became
a cabinetmaker more than twenty years ago when he apprenticed
to David Hendricks, a Dutch master cabinetmaker who
was raised in his family's business in Holland and
served the traditional European apprenticeship. For
eight years they created exquisite furniture for some
of the finest homes in Canada. Nine years ago 'Bill'
moved to coastal Maine where the quiet pace of life
lends itself to the precise art of cabinetmaking.
Bill
Evans and Robert
Eddy have been blending their creations for
the past eight years. Bill Evans is a classic cabinetmaker,
using carefully selected hardwoods and exotic veneers
combined with traditional joinery and traditional French
polish, the method used by top 18th and 19th century
cabinetmakers. The richness of this finish is unsurpassed
in its depth of the color and overall luster.
Robert
Eddy has had William Evans create the display cases for
his custom contemporary Yacht
Models. They work closely with clients to ensure
that the proper style, color and types of woods are used,
and the end result is a design to suit the interior decor
and location in the clients homes or offices. Below you
will be shown a series of completed works with descriptions
about some of Bill's individual creations. Bill's work
is all custom, except for a small selection on exhibit
at his showroom. For more information please call 'Bill'
at his shop on the banks of the Medomak River in Waldoboro,
Maine.
