Jack's commission of Stormy launched Reuben into mastery of the craft.

Jack's kindness and support for educational opportunities accelerated Reuben's ability to grow into the role of business partner in a profound way. Today after reaching our 50 year milestone Classic Yacht Models is planning the succession of these high-end skills. The “Stormy” model continues to play a role in preserving the fine art of our craft.

"I owned 'Stormy', a classic S&S sloop, for a decade.  The decision to sell was bittersweet, but practical, as we no longer had the time for sailing.  By turning to Rob Eddy, we found an imaginative way to keep this lovely creature in our family.  At that time, Rob was looking for a project that would advance the skills of his long-time apprentice, Reuben Brown. 'Stormy' was it.

A classic CCA-rule Marconi sloop is, by her nature, a triumph of beautiful form.  Not a lot of gadgetry. Her bright mahogany topsides and laid teak deck emphasize the flowing lines.  Reuben executed these elements flawlessly in a model just 25 inches long.  The details are perfect too, from the butterfly hatch in the foredeck to the cockpit instruments, standing rigging, and deck hardware – mostly executed in silver-plated gold.

The model has given much pleasure to all who see it.  And I am pleased that the project helped a young man develop further mastery of deeply impressive skills."
