This project
at Robert H. Eddy & Associates was
the second model for the owner of both ANDROMEDA
La Dea and MARIETTE and the S.M.Y. ATLANTIDE.
The Andromeda La Dea was completed and delivered
in 1995 after 4000 plus man hours to complete.
The 'MARIETTE' is currently owned by Mr. Thomas J. Perkins,
and captained by Mr. Chris Gartner. The yacht is berthed in Antibes, France and
is sailed and raced from this port in many vintage caliber yacht races every
fall. When racing, there may be between 25 to 30 people on board. Prior to visiting
the yacht in France, I browsed to the Hart
Nautical Museum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and did some
preliminary research into what was available in the archives about this yacht,
as many of the Herreshoff drawings are in their possession for preservation.
The curator, Kurt Hasselbalch was very accommodating to my requests.
On January 29th, 1996, my wife Patty and I flew to France to
document the vessel by means of still photographs, video and measurements. We
are updating and posting development
photos showing the progress of the model over the next few years. Below are
some details of what we have to build. Stay tuned!
