In the late 1970’s Rob Eddy was introduced to a very talented jeweler in Camden, Maine named Daryl Reif who was a recent winner of a Diamonds International design competition. Rob and Michael Good, another Camden jeweler, were hired in the summer of 1978 to produce 250 rough diamond pendant orders. This introduction to jewelry making, design, and manufacturing skills enabled Rob to begin making the custom hardware that Classic Yacht Models has become recognized for. On occasion Classic Yacht Models is still commissioned to build custom jewelry. Below are examples of nautical jewelry designs that the shop has produced. America's Cup Defender Sculpture

This One-Of-A-Kind America’s Cup Sculpture was created in the early 1980’s for a syndicate member in the early 1980’s. It is a replica of the yacht Defender. It is a small (but, a BIG) piece of America’s Cup history. Though it did not go on to win an America’s Cup event, it was part of the historic event where the NYYC lost the cup to Australia 11.

It is built in 14 Karat yellow gold and measures 2-3/4” long by 3-3/8” tall. It weighs just less than 2 oz. It has 9 sculpted individuals in position sailing the vessel. It sits on a marble pedestal on a 12” square green marble base with a gold engraved plaque and has a professionally created acrylic cover.

This catch evolved from a snap shackle design taken from a real boat part. The initial inspiration was than further adapted in several stages to suit the design of the bracelet you see here.

The re-designed Rob Eddy Compass Rose was originally developed in the early 1990's for a friend who wanted a unique anniversary gift for his wife. It is now crafted in 19 karat white and 18 karat red gold. This piece is about 1” in diameter with integrated ‘N’ indicator that can be embellished with diamonds and other stones at request.
